Celebrating melanin

COVID-19 and social distancing shutdown businesses and in-person interactions around the world. In the US we were also dealing with police brutality, senseless violence and an on-going need for social justice. UnionMarket was affected by COVID and had to cancel a market wide art festival. Still wanting to serve the area with art UM wanted to find a way celebrate the community with local artists.

Creative solution:

Working with a team of local photographers, we curated 25 images showing a diverse and inclusive look at the African-American community. Images were enlarged and installed as wheat-pasted murals throughout the Union Market campus.
